Maui Real Estate Openings and Other News
New Openings:
- The Butterfly of Kapalua is out of its building cocoon and is open for business.
- The new spa managed by WTS opens to the public on the 20th of June. It is approximately 30,000 sqft. with 19 treatment rooms, a great men's and womens' locker/shower area and exercise, lap pool, hot tub and juice bar with sandwiches, etc. Classes will be held for yoga and all of the exercise that people may want. It's great and has a nice view of the ocean.
- The Ritz Club has opened and checked in their first guests/owners. It will be at 100% occupancy by end of July and will stay full through April of next year. We did a tour of the lobby and it is so great. Everyone will be very surprised at how well the architects moved the lobby to face west and all of the views are very expansive. The fractional Ritz club sales are coming right along. The sales of the residences from 3-9.5M are a bit slower.
- David Paul of David Paul restaurant has come back to the island of Maui and opened a new restaurant on front street down from Ruth Chris. It is very good, according to his old clients. The restaurant business has been very hard hit with the downturn in tourism and local economy falling.
We are seeing more rental people now and do hope the air fares will keep a low price so people can travel to the islands. We do see where Alaska Airlines are beginning direct trips to Maui from Oakland beginning in September/October and they look reasonable. This should help rentals for the winter months also.
We have some very good buys in the Golf Villas at Kapalua from $575,000 and up. Two bedrooms begin at $690,000. Once the rentals pick up these will be very good units. I have extensive information on the Kapalua Resort and my listings on Maui oceanfront homes are worth a look.
SBS from Korea has signed on for the PGA tournament at Kapalua beginning in January 2010 and we hear that Mercedes may be going to Kaanapali for a senior's tournament. Mercedes has finally opened their showroom on the other side. We are all looking forward to the summer and wishing all of you the very best of Health and prosperity.
